Chicago also announced that they have signed DT Roy Philon to their practice squad and have one open spot on their 53-man roster to go along with three spots on the practice squad.
It’s interesting to see Draughn among the players released by the Bears given that he was in the mix to be team’s No. 2 running back.
Draughn, 26, signed one-year contract with the Bears back in April and actually looked pretty good during the preseason. Chicago used a fourth-round pick on Ka’Deem Carey and has him listed as Matt Forte‘s backup on their depth chart.
Mulligan, 29, is primarily a blocking tight end. He too signed a one-year contract with Chicago back in April.
Last year, he appeared in 15 games for the Patriots and caught two passes for 16 yards and a touchdown.
