Bears Release Veteran CB Tracy Porter

The Chicago Bears announced Monday that they’ve released veteran CB Tracy Porter.

Porter, 30, is a former second-round pick of the Saints back in 2008. He was in the second year of his three-year, $12 million contract that included $4.5 million guaranteed and set to make a base salary of $3.5 million for the 2017 season.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Porter will free up $3.6 million of available cap space while creating $600,000 in dead money.

In 2016, Porter appeared in all 16 games for the Bears and recorded 48 tackles, two interceptions, a forced fumble and nine pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 107 cornerback out of 111 qualifying players.
