Bears Releasing P Drew Butler

Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reports that the Chicago Bears are releasing P Drew Butler.

Butler, 25, signed a reserve/future contract with the Bears in December, but the fact that Chicago used a sixth-round pick on P Pat O’Donnell last week made it seem like a foregone conclusion that they would be parting way with Butler.

Butler last appeared in a game during the 2012 season while he was playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Bears also have Tress Way on their roster as they head into OTAs, but it would be surprising if O’Donnell didn’t enter the season as their starter.
