Bears Sign CFL CB Jonathon Mincy To Futures Deal

The Chicago Bears have signed CFL CB Jonathon Mincy to a futures deal for the 2018 season on Wednesday, according to Brad Biggs.

As of now, the Bears have signed eight players to futures deals including:

  1. TE Colin Thompson
  2. WR Tanner Gentry
  3. OL Will Pericak
  4. WR Mekale McKay
  5. WR Demarcus Ayers
  6. OL Travis Averill
  7. DB Doran Grant
  8. CB Jonathon Mincy

Futures deals are essentially camp invites that will give players the opportunity to compete for roster spots during offseason workouts and training camp.

Mincy, 25, wound up signing on with the Falcons as an undrafted free agent out of Auburn back in 2015. He was, unfortunately, cut loose coming out of the preseason and signed on with the Montreal Alouettes in time for the 2016 CFL season.

During his two years with Montreal, Mincy has recorded 108 tackles, three interceptions and two forced fumbles over the course of 32 games.

At Auburn, Mincy totaled 211 tackles, two sacks, two interceptions, a forced fumble, a recovery and 27 pass defenses over the course of four seasons.
