Bears Sign DL Toby Johnson & WR Marcus Lucas To Practice Squad, Work Out 11 Total Players

Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports that the Bears hosted 11 total players for tryouts on Tuesday and signed DL Toby Johnson and WR/TE Marcus Lucas to their practice squad.

The Bears also worked out CFL standouts DL Freddie Bishop and DB Dexter McCoil, while also trying out DB DeVante Bausby, DB Quentin Hayes, DB Gerod Holliman, DT Ricky Lumpkin, DE Greg Scruggs, DE Davon Walls, DE Josh Watson, and DT Terry Williams.

Johnson, 24, is an undrafted free agent out of Georgia and and spent a portion of the preseason with the Titans before being released. Johnson also signed on with the Jaguars, but was cut back in September.

Lucas, 23, was with the Panthers’ practice squad in 2014, but was waived during the final wave of roster cuts. Since then, Lucas has had workouts with the Browns, Redskins, Jets, Dolphins, and twice previously with the Bears.

Neither of the two players have recorded any regular-season statistics during their careers.
