The Chicago Bears signed of former Dolphins RB Daniel Thomas to a contract on Thursday, according to Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post.

Thomas was trying out for the team this week, so it appears as though he was impressive enough for the Bears to give him an invite to training camp.

The Cowboys and Lions both had shown interest in Thomas previously, but neither team offered him a contract.

Thomas, 27, is a former second-round pick of the Dolphins back in 2011. He was never able to live up to expectations in Miami and after playing our his rookie contract, Thomas returned to the Dolphins on a one-year deal last year.

In 2014, Thomas appeared in 12 games and ran for 168 yards on 44 carries (3.8 YPC) to go along with 13 receptions for 121 yards receiving and two total touchdowns.
