Bears Sign OT Mike Adams, Waive OL Nick Becton

The Chicago Bears announced Wednesday that they’ve signed OT Mike Adams to a contract and placed OL Nick Becton on waivers.

Adams, 26, is a former second-round pick of the Steelers back in 2012. He was in the final year of his contract and stands to make a base salary of $873,225 for the 2016 season with the Steelers waived him with a failed physical designation in May.

Adams underwent back surgery last year that led to him spending the entire 2015 season on the PUP list.

In 2014, Adam appeared in all 16 games for the Steelers.

Becton, 26, originally signed on with the Chargers as an undrafted free agent out of Virginia Tech back in 2013. He lasted over a year in San Diego before signing on to the Giants’ practice squad at the start of the 2014 season.

After a brief stint with the Saints, Becton signed on with the Bears and returned on a one-year contract back in March.

In 2015, Becton appeared in five games for the Bears.
