Bears Sign Second-Round G Cody Whitehair

Rand Getlin of NFL Media reports that the Bears have signed second-round G Cody Whitehair to a four-year contract on Monday.

Whitehair, 23, was taken with the No. 56 overall pick by the Bears a few weeks ago and is one of just two draft picks to sign their rookie contracts up to this point.

Some draft anaylsts actually had Whitehair pegged as a first-round pick, so the Bears appear to have gotten decent value by taking him in the middle of round two.

According to OverTheCap.com, Whitehair receives a four-year contract worth $4,224,568 to go along with a signing bonus of $1,272,412.

During his four-year college career at Kansas State, Whitehair made 51 starts at right tackle, guard and left tackle. As a senior, Whitehair was a first-team All-Big 12 selection.
