Bears Sign OLB Kasim Edebali & LB Josh Woods, Cut Two

The Chicago Bears announced that they’ve signed LB Josh Woods and LB Kasim Edebali and placed DB Tyrin Holloway and WR Shaq Roland on waivers Thursday.

Edebali, 28, wound up signing on with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Boston College back in 2014. He managed to make the 53-man roster in all three of his seasons with the Saints and played out the final year of his three-year, $1,536,000 contract.

New Orleans declined to tender him a restricted offer last year and he later signed a one-year, $1.2 million contract with the Broncos. Edebali had brief stints with the Lions and Rams before he was claimed off waivers from the Saints and finished out the year in New Orleans.

In 2017, Edebali appeared in 13 games for the Broncos and Saints and recorded one tackle.

Woods wound up going undrafted out of Maryland a few months ago. He tried out for the Bears during their minicamp this past week.

During his four-year college career at Maryland, Woods recorded 107 tackles, 5.5 tackles for a loss, two interceptions, a forced fumble and six pass defenses over the course of 23 games.
