Bears Trying Out RB Daniel Thomas & DB Sherrod Martin

Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports that the Bears are hosting RB Daniel Thomas and DB Sherrod Martin for tryouts this week.

The Cowboys and Lions both brought in Thomas more workouts in the past month, so there appears to be enough interest in his services that he could get another opportunity to compete for a roster spot this summer.

Thomas, 27, is a former second-round pick of the Dolphins back in 2011. He was never able to live up to expectations in Miami and after playing our his rookie contract, Thomas returned to the Dolphins on a one-year deal last year.

In 2014, Thomas appeared in 12 games and ran for 168 yards on 44 carries (3.8 YPC) to go along with 13 receptions for 121 yards receiving and two total touchdowns.

Martin, 30, is a former second-round pick of the Panthers back in 2009. He wound up playing out his rookie contract with Carolina before signing on with Jaguars in December of 2013.

In 2014, Martin appeared in 13 games and recorded 16 tackles, one interception, a forced fumble and two pass defenses for the Jaguars.
