Bears Unlikely To Bring Back DL Israel Idonije

Dan Pompei of The Chicago Tribune believes the Bears are out of the hunt to re-sign free agent DL Israel Idonije.

Previous reports have indicated that the Bears had a standing offer out to Idonije, but their recent decision to sign DT Sedrick Ellis could be an indication that they’re no longer interested in bringing Idonije back for another season.

As things stand right now, Chicago has only $1.63 million in available cap space to work with,  which also works against the idea of signing Idonije.

Idonije, 32, has found very little interest on the open market, but he did visit with the Titans back in April. He’s coming off of a season in which he tallied 7.5 sacks for the Bears defense.

We have him currently listed as the No. 4 player in our Best Available Free Agents list.
