Bears Waive OL Jack Allen, S ign OL Kalen Johnson

The Chicago Bears announced Saturday that they’ve waived OL Jack Allen and signed OL Kaleb Johnson to a contract.

Allen, 25, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Michigan State back in 2016. He was waived coming out of the preseason and later signed on to the Saints’ practice squad.

New Orleans promoted Allen towards the end of the 2016 season, but he was waived with an injury designation the following year and spent the season on injured reserve. The Saints declined to tender him a contract this offseason, making him an unrestricted free agent.

The Bears signed Allen to a contract last week.

During his college career at MSU, Allen was a 2015 first-team All-American and made 47 starts at center and guard for the Spartans.
