Bears Waive DL Ziggy Hood, Promote LB John Timu

The Chicago Bears announced that they’ve placed veteran DL Ziggy Hood on waivers Tuesday and promoted LB John Timu to their active roster.

Hood, 28, is a former first-round pick of the Steelers back in 2009. He played out his rookie contract with the Steelers before signing a four-year agreement with the Jaguars in March of last year.

However, the Jaguars elected to release Hood from injured reserve a few months ago. The Bears later signed him to a contract after they released veteran DT Jay Ratliff.

This season, Hood has appeared in two games, but has yet to record a single statistic.
