Bears with “No Signs” of Return for Israel Idonije, Release Andre Fluellen

The Chicago Tribune’s Brad Biggs writes Monday that the Chicago Bears show “no signs that indicate [free agent defensive end Israel Idonije] will be returning to the organization.”

Idonije, 32, has spent the last nine years of his ten year professional career with the Bears. His first year in the league, 2003, was spent with the Cleveland Browns.

The team has expressed interest in bringing back Idonije, but for the right price. Idonije has made few visits on his free agent tour to gauge his true market price.

In related Chicago defensive line news, the team terminated the contract of defensive tackle Andre Fluetten who was signed on April 9 to a one-year deal. He played in 56 games in the last five seasons, mostly with the Detroit Lions.

We have Idonije listed as the No. 7 player in our Best Available Free Agents list.

  1. I wonder what the magic price for Idonije is? He would be a nice pickup for this year. I hope that after they sign Melton to a long term deal, that there is enough money to pick up Issy.
