Bears Place OLB Pernell McPhee, G Amini Silatolu & WR Marquess Wilson On PUP List

Update:

The Chicago Bears announced that they’ve placedĀ OLB Pernell McPhee, G Amini Silatolu and WR Marquess Wilson on the active/PUP list.

Players placed on the active/PUP list can return to practice once activated. However, if they remain on PUP list to start the regular season, they would missĀ at least the first six weeks.

McPhee, 27, is in the second year of his five-year, $38.75 million contract. The deal contains $15.5 million guaranteed. He stands to make a base salary of $7 million for the 2016 season.

In 2015, McPhee appeared in 14 games for the Bears and recorded 53 tackles, six sacks, an interception, a forced fumble and three pass defenses.

Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports that Bears WR Marquess Wilson is currently sportingĀ a walking boot and is likely to open the 2016 season on the PUP list.

This would cost Wilson the first six games of season, but also buy him the necessary time to get healthy.

Wilson unfortunately re-fractured hisĀ left foot last month and was forced to undergoĀ surgery.

Wilson has shown some promise, but injuries have really prevented him from carving out a solid role in the team’s offense. Before this latest injury, it appeared as though he was competing for the team’s No. 4 receiver job behindĀ Alshon Jeffery, Kevin White and Eddie Royal.

Wilson, 23, is a former seventh-round pick of the Bears back in 2013. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $2.208 million rookie contractĀ and stands to make a base salary ofĀ $675,000 for the 2016 season.

In 2015, Wilson appeared in 11 games for the Bears and recorded 28 receptions for 464 yards receiving and one touchdown. However, his season came to an end after he suffered aĀ foot injury that led to him being placed on season-ending injured reserve.
