Marshawn Lynch Undergoes Surgery, To Be Evaluated In 3-4 Weeks

Update:

According to Jason La Canfora, Marshawn Lynch underwent surgery for his abdominal injury on Wednesday.

La Canfora adds that the Seahawks will not place Lynch on the season-ending injured reserve and will wait 3-4 weeks to see how he responds to the procedure.

We’ll have more regarding Lynch’s injury as the news is available.

Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports reports that indications are that Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch is expected to miss around 4-5 weeks with an abdominal injury.

However, Garafolo mentions that Lynch is out a “minimum” of four weeks, which means Seattle will be relying on Thomas Rawls for the next month.

As of now, the hope right now is that Lynch could be back in late December, according to Garafolo.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch needs “a couple weeks to see how he does” and “to see if he can recover” from the injury he’s dealing with.

As of now, Lynch is believed to have a sports hernia, but details are limited regarding the severity of injury.

Seattle has bolstered their running back depth by signing Bryce Brown to their roster and adding DuJuan Harris to their practice squad.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch is in Philadelphia Monday to meet with Dr. William Meyers.

According to Rapoport, the belief is that Lynch is dealing with a sports hernia.

If Dr. Meyers confirms that Lynch has a sports hernia, he would undergo surgery as soon as possible. However, this could cost him the rest of the regular season, according to Rapoport.

Rapoport mentions that, as of now, the hope is that Lynch would be back for the postseason.

Lynch, 29, is in the first year of his three-year, $31 million contract that included $12 million guaranteed. He’ll make a base salary of $4.5 million this season and another $9 million in 2016.

This season, Lynch has ran for 417 yards on 111 carries (3.8 YPC) to go along with 13 receptions for 80 yards receiving and three total touchdowns over the course of seven games.
