Saints Give G Ben Grubbs A Five-Year Contract Worth $36 Million

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the New Orleans Saints have found their replacement for Carl Nick in former Ravens G Ben Grubbs. Schefter reports that the deal is a five-year contract that’s worth $36 million and includes a $10 million signing bonus as well as $16 million guaranteed.

Grubbs, 28, had been mentioned as a possibility for the Redskins as well as but the Saints were willing to spend to keep their interior offensive line in order for Drew Brees.

We had Grubbs listed as the #17 best available free agent in our recently updated Top 50 Free Agents list.

Rich Campbell of the Washington Times reports that Ravens G Ben Grubbs is “in play” for the Redskins.

Washington has been very busy thus far which normally wouldn’t be much of a shock but considering that they lost $36 million in cap space, it’s been a little surprising. So far they’ve added WR Pierre Garcon and Josh Morgan but the signing Grubbs would be a great addition to the teams offensive line. The Saints are also in on Grubbs so the Redskins will have to remain competitive if they intend to get him under contract.

With Carl Nicks signed to Tampa, Ben Grubbs is most likely the best free agent OG available. We have Grubbs listed as the #19Free Agent in our Top 50 Free Agents List.

According to Mike Triplett, the Saints will schedule meeting with Ravens G Ben Grubbs.

Grubbs could end up replacing G Carl Nicks depending on his asking price as it appears that Nicks has left for greener pastures.
