Steelers Building Game Plan Around Charlie Batch

Steelers head coach told reporters that they are building their offensive game plan around Charlie Batch

As we sit here today, we are building our plan around Charlie,” Tomlin said, per Mike Bires.

This obviously refutes the previous report that Ben Roethlisberger was expected to be back in time to play in this weekends game. We’ll have to see how practice goes for the remainder of the week before we’ll have a better idea of who will be under center.

Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that the Steelers expect to have QB Ben Roethlisberger back in time for Sunday’s game against the San Diego Chargers.

Roethlisberger will practice on Wednesday, so it will be interesting to see how much work he puts in. Pittsburgh would most likely be willing to play him at less than 100 percent given that Charlie Batch is their alternative at this point in time.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger “has a chance” to play against the Chargers in Week 14.

Roethlisberger has been reportedly cleared by doctors, so it’s really a matter of whether or not Ben is able to show the coaching staff that’s capable of playing close to his previous level.

Charlie Batch stepped in and surprisingly came away with a victory over the Ravens, so it would make sense that the Steelers would hold Roethlisberger out if he’s still struggling with some things.

We should know more in the coming days regarding his status for Week 14.
