Ben Roethlisberger: “I Plan On Coming Back Next Year”

Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger told reporters after Sunday’s loss to the Jaguars that he plans on returning for the 2018 season.

“I plan on coming back next year,” Roethlisberger said, per Ron Cook.

“I definitely have a desire to play football. I love this game, I love these guys,” Roethlisberger said, per Aditi Kinkhabwala. “I don’t know who’s coming back, but I know the guys up front are and that makes it good for me. So I look forward to next year with these guys.

Last offseason, Roethlisberger at least weighed the possibility of calling it a career, which has led to a lot of speculation about the future of the Steelers’ quarterback position.

Roethlisberger, 35, is in the second year of his five-year, $99 million contract that includes $64 million guaranteed. He stands to make a base salary of $17.75 million for the 2016 season.

In 2017, Roethlisberger appeared in 15 games for the Steelers and threw for 4,251 yards while completing 64.2 percent of his passes to go along with 28 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 3 quarterback out of 39 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding Roethlisberger’s plans as the news is available.
