NEWS: #Bengals decline to match Browns’ offer to WR Andrew Hawkins
— Cincinnati Bengals (@Bengals) March 18, 2014
Hawkins will now join the Cleveland Browns and will not have to part with draft compensation.
The Browns offer sheet is reportedly a four-year deal worth $13.6 million.
Hawkins, 28, received an original round tender from the Bengals, which means the Browns wouldn’t have to part with draft compensation to sign him away from the Bengals.
Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports that the NFL has informed the Bengals that they have until midnight Tuesday to match the offer sheet the Browns signed restricted free agent WR Andrew Hawkins to last week.
It was previously mentioned that Cincinnati had until 4 pm est Tuesday to decide, but it appears as though they will have the entire day to mull over the situation.
