The Cincinnati Bengals officially exercised WR A.J. Green‘s fifth-year option on Monday, according to Albert Breer.
The fact that the Bengals picked up his fifth-year option shouldn’t come as much of a surprise given that Green is already among the best receivers in the game.
He’ll make $10.176 million in 2015, assuming that the two sides don’t have a long-term deal in place before then. It’s worth noting that this figure is only guaranteed for injury.
Green, 25, could be in line for a contract close to some of the best receivers in the games including Calvin Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald.
He still has one-year remaining on his rookie contract that will pay him a base salary of $3,059,739 in 2014.
Last year, he totaled 98 receptions for 1,426 yards receiving and 11 touchdowns.
