Bengals Officially Re-Sign DE Michael Johnson, Add QB Christian Hackenberg To PS

The Cincinnati Bengals announced that they’ve re-signed DE Michael Johnson, signed QB Christian Hackenberg to their practice squad and placed CB Davontae Harris on injured reserve Monday.

The Bengals’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. TE Moritz Bohringer (International)
  2. DT Andrew Brown
  3. HB Quinton Flowers
  4. FB/TE Jordan Franks
  5. CB C.J. Goodwin
  6. C Brad Lundblade
  7. OT Kent Perkins
  8. CB KeiVarae Russell
  9. WR Kermit Whitfield
  10. LB Chris Worley
  11. QB Christian Hackenberg

After roster cuts on Saturday, Bengals HC Marvin Lewis told reporters that there was still a chance they could bring Johnson back, so this doesn’t come as a big surprise.

Johnson, 31, is a former third-round pick of the Bengals back in 2009. He spent five years in Cincinnati before joining the Buccaneers as a free agent in 2014.

However, the Buccaneers released Johnson after one year and he elected to return to the Bengals in 2015. Johnson was in the final year of his four-year, $20 million contract and set to earn a base salary of $4.55 million this season when he was released.

In 2017, Johnson appeared in all 16 games for the Bengals and recorded 49 total tackles and five sacks.
