Bengals Pick Up CB Darqueze Dennard’s Fifth-Year Option

The Cincinnati Bengals announced that they’ve picked up CB Darqueze Dennard’s fifth-year option.

The fifth-year option will cost the Bengals $8,526,000 million for the 2018 season, according to Joel Corry, but is guaranteed only for injury and wouldn’t have prevented them from working on a long-term extension over the next year.

Dennard, 25, was taken with the No. 24 overall pick by the Bengals back in 2014. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $7.978 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $988,032 for the 2017 season.

In 2016, Dennard appeared in 15 games for the Bengals and recorded 47 tackles, no interceptions, and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 87 cornerback out of 111 qualifying players.
