Bengals Place QB Andy Dalton On Injured Reserve, Ends His Season

The Cincinnati Bengals announced Monday that they’ve placed on QB Andy Dalton on season-ending injured reserve.

Ian Rapoport reports that Dalton suffered torn ligaments in his thumb and it remains to be seen whether he’ll undergo surgery.

The Bengals will turn to Jeff Driskel as their starting quarterback for the remainder of the season.

Dalton, 31, is a former second-round pick of the Bengals back in 2011. He’s currently in the fifth year of his seven-year, $97.09 million contract, which includes $17 million guaranteed.

Dalton stands to make base salaries of $13.7 million and $16 million over the next two years of the agreement.

In 2018, Dalton appeared in 11 games for the Bengals and thrown for 2,566 yards while completing 61.9 percent of his passes to go along with 21 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
