Bengals Place WR A.J. Green On Injured Reserve, Promote G Trey Hopkins

The Cincinnati Bengals announced Saturday that they’ve placed WR A.J. Green on injured reserve and promoted G Trey Hopkins is promoted to their active roster.

This doesn’t come as a big surprise, considering that the Bengals made it clear they weren’t going to allow Green to return from his hamstring injury with nothing left to play for this year.

Green, 28, is a former first-round pick of the Bengals back in 2011. He’s currently in the second year of his five-year, $70.176 million contract that included $26.75 million guaranteed and is set to make base salaries of $10.3 million and $10.55 million over the next two years.

In 2016, Green caught 66 passes for 964 yards receiving and four touchdowns for the Bengals. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 4 receiver out of 118 qualifying players.
