Bengals Place WR Mario Alford On I.R. After Clearing Waivers

Bengals WR Mario Alford has cleared waivers on Thursday and has reverted to the team’s injured reserve, according to Paul Dehner Jr.

Alford, 24, was taken in the seventh round of last year’s draft by the Bengals. He’s currently in the second year of his four-year, $2,339,104 rookie contract and stands to make a base salary of $525,000 for the 2016 season.

The Bengals waived Alford with an injury designation earlier this week.

Last year, Alford appeared in one game for the Bengals caught one pass for 15 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
