Bengals Plan For The QB Position

It could end up being a long season in Cincinnati as the Bengals look to be ready and willing to start rookie QB Andy Dalton despite the shortened offseason.

With the final round of cuts coming on Saturday, Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer suggests that the team could move forward with Dalton and Bruce Gradkowski as their only quarterbacks in his latest 53 man roster projections. This would suggest that Dan LeFevour is sitting on the outside looking in as Reedy doesn’t even include him in the “First four out” section.

Gradkowski is a decent backup quarterback option but it’s hard to say that this combination is going to be able to move the ball through the air in 2011. Dalton looked better in the teams third preseason game but he still has a ways to go before he’s impacting the game for the better.
