Bengals Releasing Veteran LB A.J. Hawk

Alex Marvez of FOX Sports reports that the Bengals are releasing veteran LB A.J. Hawk on Tuesday.

Hawk, 32, is a former first-round pick of the Packers back in 2006. After nine years in Green Bay, Hawk signed two-year, $3.25 million contract that included a $500,000 roster bonus with the Bengals last year. He was set to make a base salary of $1.1 million for the 2016 season.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing will free up $1.4 million in available cap space while creating no dead money.

In 2015, Hawk appeared in all 16 games for the Bengals and recorded 24 tackles and sack. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 52 linebacker out of 97 qualifying players.
