Bengals Rookie DT Andrew Billings Underwent Knee Surgery, Possibly Out For Season

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Bengals rookie DT Andrew Billings underwent knee surgery on Monday for a torn meniscus and is “out indefinitely, if not for the season.

The Bengals were reportedly hoping that Billings just suffered a cartilage tear at most, but it sounds like the injury may have been more server than they hoped.

It’s likely that Billings will be placed on injured reserve at some point in the coming weeks.

Billings, 21, was taken with the No. 122 overall pick by the Bengals. It came as a surprise to many to see just how far Billings wound up falling in the draft, considering that some experts had him rated as a first-round pick.

Ultimately, teams didn’t value him as any more than a two-down player, but he landed in a great spot with the Bengals.

According to OverTheCap.com, Billings receives a four-year contract worth $2,875,844 to go along with a signing bonus of $535,844.

During his college career at Baylor, Billings recorded 107 tackles, 30 tackles for a loss, 8.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles.
