Bengals S Shawn Williams Out 4-6 Weeks With Dislocated Elbow

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Bengals S Shawn Williams is out 4-6 weeks after he sustained a dislocated elbow during Saturday’s preseason game against the Chiefs.

According to Rapoport, this timeline is based on the initial test of Williams’ elbow, but his sources have said that it won’t require surgery.

David Chao believes Williams could still play in Week 1 with a brace on his elbow.

Williams, 26, is a former third-round pick of the Bengals back in 2013. He was in the final year of his rookie contract when he signed a five-year, $20.19 million contract with Cincinnati last year.

In 2016, Williams appeared in 15 games and recorded 81 tackles, one sack, three interceptions and five pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 39 safety out of 90 qualifying players.
