The Cincinnati Bengals signed DE Sam Montgomery to a future/reserve contract on Friday, according to the NFL transactions release.

Montgomery, 24, is a former third-round pick of the Houston Texans back in 2013. However, he lasted just five months with the team before he was ultimately waived for violating team rules.

Report mentioned that he and a few teammates were caught smoking pot in a hotel room the night before a regular season game.

The Raiders later signed him to their practice squad back in December of 2013, but he only last three days in Oakland before he was once again cut.

Cincinnati elected to take a chance on him in back in April of last year, and while he didn’t make the team’s final 53-man roster, he was added to their taxi squad.

At this point in his career, he’ll need an impressive training camp to secure a roster with Cincinnati.
