Bengals In Talks With S Taylor Mays About Return To Cincinnati

According to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com, Cincinnati is believed to be in contract talks with free agent S Taylor Mays and have made “good progress” to bring him back.

Hobson mentions the Bengals would Mays to return as their nickel linebacker to replace the Emmanuel Lamur, who signed with the Vikings last week.

It’s worth mentioning that Mays could be suspended for the first four games of the 2016 season for violating an NFL policy. However, it appears as though his potential ban hasn’t prevented the Bengals from possibly bringing him back for another year.

Mays, is a former second-round pick of the 49ers back in 2010. He lasted just over year in San Francisco before he was traded to the Bengals.

After four years with the Bengals, Mays signed a one-year contract with the Raiders last year and is now testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent.

In 2015, Mays appeared in 14 games and recorded 26 tackles and five pass defenses for the Raiders. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 63 safety out of 88 qualifying players.
