Bills Claim QB Matt Simms Off Waivers From Jets, Waive QB Jeff Tuel

The Buffalo Bills claimed QB Matt Simms off of waivers from the Jets on Friday and placed QB Jeff Tuel on waivers to make room for their new addition.

Simms, 26, signed on with the Jets as an undrafted out of Tennessee back in 2012. He was unable able to make the team’s final 53-man roster coming out of the preseason that year, but later signed a reserve/future deal in December.

In 2014, Simms was signed to the team’s practice squad and wound up appearing in one game, completing 3-of-8 pass attempts for 39 yards.

For his pro career, Simms has played in four games (no starts), completed 19 of 39 passes for 195 yards, a TD and an interception to go along with a passer rating of 61.4.

Tuel, 24, signed on with the Bills as an undrafted free agent out of Washington State back in April of 2013.

In 2014, Tuel threw for 309 yards while completing 44.1 percent of his passes to go along with one touchdown and three interceptions. y.
