Bills Close To An Extension For Ryan Fitzpatrick

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported last night that the Buffalo Bills are nearing a deal with QB Ryan Fitzpatrick that will pay him somewhere in the range of $9 million and $12 million per season.

Many have referred to Fitzpatrick’s reported deal as being a “second-tier” contract which seems lo make sense when you consider that the like of Tom Brady and Peyton Manning are pulling in an average of $18 million per season.

The Bills and Fitzpatrick have been in talks for a number of weeks but there’s still a chance that a deal may not get done. As of now Fitzpatrick is set to hit the open market following the season which adds to the teams urgency to get something done beforehand.

Franchising him would end up being a very costly move that they could otherwise prevent by signing him now. Other players like WR Stevie Johnson and RB Fred Jackson will also need to be addressed so it’s important to not allocate to much money to one player if you have alternative options.

  1. They should go after TO!! he’s 37 and still a beast.. instead of using Spiller at WR, he’s half the price of Lee Evans.. he add’s a deep threat that we need, every WR on the Bills team except S.Johnson is medicore at best and wouldn’t be a 3 string on any other team. PULL THE TRIGGER…
