Vic Carucci of the Buffalo News reports that the Bills are close to finalizing a deal to re-sign free agent DE Jerry Hughes.
- Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports reported earlier that the Bills were “intent” on getting on a contract in place with Hughes and it sounds like something will get done.
- Jason La Canfora mentions the Bills had an offer on the table to keep Hughes that would pay him over $8.5 million per year.
Hughes, 26, recorded 53 tackles, 9.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, one recovery and even scored a defensive touchdown for the Bills defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 14 defensive end in a 4-3 system out of 59 qualifying players.
We have Hughes currently listed as the No. 10 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
