Bills DT Marcell Dareus Sent Home For Violating Team Rule

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that Bills DT Marcell Dareus was sent home from Baltimore for violation a team rule ahead of their preseason game against the Ravens.

There’s no word on what the rule violation was, but it’s not a great look for a player who has been unreliable since signing a huge contract a few years ago. There’s a new regime in charge of the Bills, so it will be interesting to see how they handle Dareus moving forward.

Dareus, 27, is a former first-round pick of the Bills back in 2011. He signed a massive seven-year, $103.2 million contract that included $60 million guaranteed with the Bills back in 2015.

Dareus stands to make base salaries of $9.75 million (2017), $9.92 million (2018), $8.33 million (2019), $12.35 million (2020) and $1.24 million (2021) over the remainder of the contract.

In 2016, Dareus appeared in eight games after he was suspended for the first four games of the season. He finished with 39 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and a pass defense.
