Bills DT Marcell Dareus To Miss Remainder Of OTAs

Buffalo Bills HC Doug Marrone told reporters on Tuesday that DT Marcell Dareus will not participate in the remainder of OTA activities, but will return for the teams mandatory minicamp.

Marrone added that Dareus is dealing with “a lot of personal issues” right, but he still has faith in the former first-round pick.

“Marcell has made some poor decisions lately,” Marrone said, per Mike Rodak. “He’s dealing with a lot of personal issues too.

I believe in Marcell,” added Marrone.

Dareus, 24, has had a fair share of run-ins with police for the past month and is currently facing three misdemeanor charges stemming from his drag racing and property damage incident that occurred last weekend. Dareus was previously arrested on May 5 for possession of synthetic marijuana.

The Buffalo News reported following Dareus’ synthetic marijuana charge that the franchise has known about Dareus’ problem with marijuana.

However, it seems that the Bills and Marrone are prepared to stand by Dareus in hope that he’s able to get things turned around.

The Bills picked up his his fifth-year option back in April, which will run them $8.060 million for the 2015 season.

Last year, Dareus totaled 71 tackles, 7 sacks and a forced fumble for the Bills defense. Pro Football Focus rated Dareus as the No. 6 defensive tackle in the league.
