Bills GM Doug Whaley Says Re-Signing WR Robert Woods Will Be An Offseason Priority

Bills GM Doug Whaley said Friday during an interview that impending free agent WR Robert Woods will be “at the top of our list” during the offseason, per Sal Capaccio.

There will obviously be other big decisions for the Bills to make in the coming months like picking up QB Tyrod Taylor‘s option and possibly re-signing CB Stephon Gilmore. However, it appears as though they would like to get contract negotiations started with Woods once the season has completed.

The pool of receivers isn’t all that deep and there is a lot of available cap space to work with, which could lead to players such as Woods securing better deals than anticipated.

Woods, 24, is a former second-round pick of the Bills back in 2013. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $4.917 million contract and will make a base salary of $1,018,650 for the 2016 season.

This year, Woods has appeared in 11 games and caught 44 passes for 527 yards receiving and one touchdown for the Bills. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 53 receiver out of 118 qualifying players.
