Bills Going With Tyrod Taylor As Starting QB

Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reports that the Bills have named Tyrod Taylor their starting quarterback for Week 1.

Bills HC Rex Ryan was expected to make a decision yesterday regarding who would be under center for them in the season opener, but indications were that Taylor’s running ability and overall play was enough to convince the coaching staff he was their best option.

Buffalo gave veteran Matt Cassel and former first-round pick EJ Manuel an opportunity to win the job, but it looks like they ultimately came up short.

Taylor, 26, signed a three-year, $3.35 million contract that included $1.2 million guaranteed.  He stands to make a base salary of $750,000 for the 2015 season.

This will be Taylor’s first real shot at being an NFL starter, so it will be interesting to see what he’s capable of this season.
