Bills Have Had “Preliminary Talks” With C.J. Spiller Regarding New Contract

Bills GM Doug Whaley told reporters on Tuesday that they have had “preliminary talks” with RB C.J. Spiller‘s agent regarding a news contract, per Chris Brown.

“He’s a playmaker, and we’re trying to keep as many playmakers as possible,” Whaley said.

Spiller just recently hired a new agent, so this is the Bills first opportunity to broach the topic with his representative.

Spiller, 26, is entering the final year of his contract and will make $1,748,750 for the 2014 season. He should be a sought after player if he ends up reaching the open market next year.

Last year, Spiller ran for 927 yards on 201 carries (4.6 YPC) and added two touchdowns. Pro Football Focus rated Spiller as the No. 51 running back out of 55 qualifying players.
