Bills Head-Coaching Job Anthony Lynn’s To Lose, Gus Bradley Could Join Him?

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, the Bills’ head-coaching job is interim HC Anthony Lynn’s to lose.

Rapoport adds that the Bills will also do their homework on candidates such as Eagles OC Frank Reich, Lions DC Teryl Austin and Cardinals OC Harold Goodwin in the coming weeks.

Adam Schefter mentioned this morning that former Jaguars HC Gus Bradley is planning to follow Lynn to any head-coaching job he obtains, creating a Lynn-Bradley ticket.

This doesn’t come as a big surprising, considering that Vic Carucci of the Buffalo News reported a few days ago that “every indication from within One Bills Drive” is that Buffalo is settled on sticking with Lynn as their head coach next year.

Carucci points out that the team’s decision to keep GM Doug Whaley in place, despite firing HC Rex Ryan yesterday, will impact the level of interest in the job. With this in mind, Carucci says that the Bills’ search is likely to be “very limited” now that Whaley will likely maintain control of the team’s 53-man roster.

Carucci also reported that Whaley convinced ownership to part ways with Ryan and have Lynn replace him, so it’s clear that Lynn would have no issues with Whaley staying on as GM and having control of the roster.

However, other notable candidates linked to the job such as Tom Coughlin, Patriots OC Josh McDaniels and Eagles DC Jim Schwartz likely would not be interested in that type of arrangement.

Even so, Carucci expects there to be some level of external interest in the job.

Lynn, 48, began his coaching career with the Broncos back in 2000. He had brief stints with the Jaguars, Cowboys, Browns and Jets as their running backs coach before he was hired by the Bills last year. Buffalo elected to fire OC Greg Roman earlier in the season and Lynn was promoted to run the team’s offense before taking over for Ryan this week.

Lynn will get one game as interim head coach before the team’s launches their head-coaching search.
