Bills Hire Ed Reed As Assistant DBs Coach

The Buffalo Bills announced Wednesday night that they’ve hired former Ravens S Ed Reed as their assistant defensive backs coach.

Ed Reed is going to be such a great asset to our team,” said head coach Rex Ryan. “Obviously he’s played in this system and been an MVP caliber guy in this system. He’s going to be such a great asset for players. He’s a real student of the game as well and he’s going to be a phenomenal coach.”

“Having spent time with Ed in Baltimore and then New York – I can attest to the incredibly high level of professionalism he is going to bring with him to Buffalo,” said Ryan. “He’s going to teach guys how he studies film, bring the guys along and add so much in that way.”

The Bills have been making changes to their coaching staff since the season ended, including bringing in Rex Ryan’s brother, Rob, to help with their defense.

Reed was a very successful player, who will be enshrined in the Hall of Fame in the coming years. He brings plenty of credibility and experience to the Bills’ coaching staff.

It will be interesting to see what he’s able to do with the opportunity.
