Bills To Host WR Russell Shepard On A Visit This Week

Jay Skurski reports that the Bills are scheduled to host free agent WR Russell Shepard for a visit at some point this week.

This is the first reported interest in Shepard since he was cut loose Monday after declining to take a pay cut to be back with the Panthers for the 2018 season.

Shepard, 27, wound up signing on with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent out of LSU back in 2013. He lasted just a few months with the Eagles before he was waived and later claimed by the Buccaneers.

The Panthers signed to a three-year, $10 million contract last year. He was set to make base salaries of $2.3 million and $2.85 million over the final two years of the agreement when the Panthers released him on Monday.

In 2017, Shepard appeared in 15 games for the Panthers and caught 17 passes for 202 yards receiving and one touchdown. He also rushed for 19 yards and totaled 65 kick return yards for Carolina.
