Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that former Jets CB Antonio Cromartie is expected to visit with the Bills in the coming days.
- According to Rapoport, Bills HC Rex Ryan is “intrigued by a reunion.”
This is the first reported interest in Cromartie since he became available close to a week ago.
Following this release, Darryl Slater of NJ.com reported that Cromartie would be interested in re-signing with the Jets at a lower salary, given that he “loves the Jets organization and coach Todd Bowles.”
Bowles didn’t completely rule out a return to New York for Cromartie, but it sounds like they plan to consider other options first.
Cromartie, 31, was in the second year of his four-year, $32 million contract that included $7 million guaranteed when he was released in a move that freed up $8 million in available cap space for the Jets.
In 2015, Cromartie appeared in 15 games for the Jets and recorded 29 tackles, a fumble recovery and 12 pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 86 cornerback out of 111 qualifying players.
