Bills Notes: E.J. Manuel & Da’Rick Rogers

E.J. Manuel

According to Joe Buscaglia of WGR 550 Buffalo, the Bills quarterback competition is all but over with E.J. Manuel being the winner.

Following the Bills preseason win against the Vikings, Buscaglia believes the Florida State product will be under center come the start of the regular season. Kevin Kolb finished Friday’s game 13-of-21 for 111 yards and an interception, but his overall performance was probably worse than those numbers indicated.

Buscaglia expects to see Manuel starting the Bills first game of the season.

Da’Rick Rogers

Buscaglia also writes that undrafted WR Da’Rick Rogers appears to be in the coaching staff’s “dog house,” which was evident by the fact that Rogers was the second-to-last receiver to enter the game for the Bills on Friday.

Rogers didn’t see playing time until there was 9:18 left in the fourth quarter. According to Buscaglia, the feeling is that Rogers has been surpassed on the depth chart by both Brandon Kaufman and DeMarco Sampson.

Despite his abilities and potential many teams passed on Rogers for a reason. Buscaglia believes there’s a “very real possibility” that he gets cut from the Bill’s roster.
