Bills Pick Up DT Marcell Dareus’ Fifth-Year Option

Rand Getlin of Yahoo Sports reports that the Bills have picked up DT Marcell Dareus‘ fifth-year option on Friday.

This move will cost the Bills $8.060 million for the 2015 season, but it’s not surprising to see them pick the option given that Dareus has been a very productive player for them.

Buffalo is still expected to work on a long-term extension in the coming months that could end up replacing this salary.

Dareus, 24, is entering the final year of rookie contract and has clearly earned a long-term deal. Last season, Dareus totaled 71 tackles, 7 sacks and a forced fumble for the Bills defense. Pro Football Focus rated Dareus as the No. 6 defensive tackle in the league.
