Bills Place QB Kevin Kolb & WR Brad Smith On Season-Ending IR

Joe Buscaglia of WGR 550 reports that the Buffalo Bills will place QB Kevin Kolb and WR/KR Brad Smith on season-ending injured reserve.

  • Kolb will receive the $1 million signing bonus he received from the team after he reached an agreement on a two-year contract worth $6.1 million.
  • FB Drew Smith was also placed on IR as well.

Recent reports have indicated that Kolb’s recent concussion could be career-ending. The only time frame offered by the team has been from HC Doug Marrone who said that Kolb should be out “a while.”

Buffalo has already committed to starting rookie undrafted free agent Drew Smith in Week 1 against the Patriots while first-round pick E.J. Manuel recovers from knee surgery.

As for Smith, this appears to be his final season with the Bills. He signed a two-year deal worth $3.75 million, so he’ll likely enter the offseason on the chopping the block.
