Bills QB Josh Allen “Week-To-Week” With Elbow Injury

Update:

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reports that Bills QB Josh Allen is dealing with an ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in his right elbow that is not considered a major issue at this time.

Even so, the Bills plan to send his MRI orthopedist specialist Dr. James Andrews for a second opinion.

Mortensen says that the Bills do not want to rush Allen back and plan to allow him properly heal despite his desire to play at less than full strength.

On Monday, Bills HC Sean McDermott announced that rookie QB Josh Allen is “week-to-week” with an elbow injury.

When asked about Allen playing in Week 7’s game, McDermott said: “We’ll see. I’ll know a little more tomorrow, but we’ll see.

McDermott added that all options are still on the table in terms of their starting quarterback for Sunday’s game against the Colts, which means they could turn to either Nathan Peterman or Derek Anderson if Allen is unable to suit up.

Allen, 22, was taken with the No. 7 overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft by the Bills. According to OverTheCap.com, Allen receives a four-year, $21,265,508 contract that includes a $13,545,824 signing bonus.

The contract includes a fifth-year option for the Bills to pick up in 2021.
