Bills & QB Tyrod Taylor Still In Talks Regarding An Extension, Could Spill Over Into Season

Sal Capaccio of WGR 550 Buffalo reports that the Bills and QB Tyrod Taylor are open to an in-season extension.

A source familiar with the situation tells Capaccio that the two parties have continued to discuss an extension. However, it’s unlikely that they’ll have a deal in place before the start of the 2016 season.

Bills GM Doug Whaley has said that they plan to work on a new deal for Taylor and CB Stephon Gilmore in the coming months, so this doesn’t come as a big surprise.

Reports from Bills offseason workouts have said that Taylor has really stood out during the workouts.

Taylor, 26, signed a three-year, $3.35 million contract that included just $1.2 million guaranteed with the Bills back in March. However, the third year of his contract actually voided after he surpassed the snap limit included in the agreement last year.

In 2015, Taylor threw for 3,035 yards passing while completing 63.7 percent of his passes to go along with 20 touchdowns and six interceptions. Taylor has also contributed 568 yards rushing and four rushing touchdowns over the course of 14 games.

Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 9 quarterback out of 38 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding an extension for Taylor as the news is available.
