Bills RB Fred Jackson Expected To Miss Close To Four Weeks

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that an MRI revealed that Bills RB Fred Jackson is expected to be out “at least” two weeks with a groin injury.

  • Ian Rapoport reports that the worst-case scenario for Jackson to miss four weeks, but he’s hoping to be back for Week 9.
  • David Chao anticipates a four-six week recovery period for Jackson.

Given that the Bills will be on bye in Week 9, it’s at least a possibility that Jackson could return in time for their Week 10 match up against the Chiefs.

Buffalo reportedly lost C.J. Spiller for the season, so this is good news for their running back depth. For the time being, Anthony Dixon and Bryce Brown are expected to handle the workload.

Jackson, 33, signed a two-year, $5.24 million contract extension with the Bills back in late July.

Heading into Week 6’s game, Jackson had ran for 227 yards on 52 carries (4.4 YPC) to go along with 30 receptions for 245 yards receiving and two total touchdowns.
